About Typical: who is behind the group bingo
Typical is a group bingo for trips and long evenings. Before the round, each person writes predictions about how the others will behave. When one of them comes true, it gets ticked off, and the first to complete a full line wins. How a round works step by step is explained in How to play. On this page we explain who is behind Typical, what the game stands for and what we promise when it comes to ads and data.
Who is behind Typical
Typical is run by Schwartz & Zuhmann GbR, a partnership under German civil law based in Heilbronn. It is represented by its two partners, Gabriel Schwartz and Marcel Daniel Zuhmann. When you write to us, a human being answers.
Typical works in the browser, and the game also exists as an app for iPhone and Android. Everyone plays the same round, whatever device they use. A round has two to thirty people, playing individually or in teams.
What Typical stands for
Typical is a game about affectionate observation. Anyone who spends time with friends, family or colleagues knows the others' little habits: always arriving late, ordering the same thing every time. Typical turns that into a game – not to expose anyone, but because people in a group know each other well and can laugh about it together.
That is why everything rests on one rule: whatever is written about you stays hidden until it has happened. You only see how many sentences about you are in play. This applies on the screen and on the server too: sentences about you are never even sent to your device. That way, everyone can behave completely normally.
Just as important: a prediction describes behaviour, not a character trait. “Gets lost despite the map” can be observed and ticked off; a judgement about a person has no place on the card. A word filter on the server keeps offensive terms out of predictions, and content that still hurts can be reported – how is explained in the terms of use under “Reporting content”.
Every group should be able to start right away. Playing itself is free. In the browser, a name is enough – no account needed. Typical is available in eleven languages: German, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish and Icelandic.
Ads and data
Wherever Typical shows ads, we keep four promises that are also part of our terms of use:
- Never personalised ads without your explicit consent. Without your yes, there are none.
- No advertising ID and no recognising you across devices. We don't follow you from one device to the next.
- Game content never goes to an advertising partner. What you write stays in the game.
- No ads where predictions are written or read, and none on the bingo card. The only exception is an ad you request yourself to unlock something – it appears as a separate screen.
The game server is located in Frankfurt am Main, in the European Union. Which data we process and why is described in detail in our privacy policy.
